Sahle-Work Zewde, the President of Ethiopia, one of Africa’s most visited countries in Africa, at the Africa Investment Forum of 2018(AIF) made an appeal to various investors in South Africa and across the continent to invest in Ethiopia. President made it clear that there have been some intentional projects made to provide a conducive environment to attract investors but to no avail.
At the forum, President Zewde laid out some of the projects made deliberately to attract investors. She said that in infrastructure, they have an electronic railway and the Ethiopian Airline to catch the fancy of investors and make transportation easier for them. She also made it known that her target is to make Ethiopia a better place, and their main focus for economic growth is to make Ethiopia the manufacturing hub of Africa and hope to achieve that by 2025.
To achieve this great goal, she noted that the private sectors and investors across the continent will be very essential in helping Ethiopia achieve its ambitious 2025 economic targets. So far, two telecommunication giants in South Africa and across the continent, who are MTN and Vodacom have shown interest in accepting the call of President Sahle-Work. They intend to help Ethiopia in reaching their 2025 economic goals but the President still appeals for more.
