Journey of Yoga

So as much as we try to explain the power and benefits of yoga, words simply fail to do it justice. It’s something that has to be experienced to be fully understood. Everyone’s journey is different so what’s gained from it varies with each person.

The flexibility is a super dope bonus, but that’s all it is… a bonus, a byproduct, a side effect. When I first started practicing, I honestly didn’t know what to expect. I didn’t know where this so-called journey was going to take me and I didn’t know how it would change me.

I failed to value my life, often questioned my existence, was so damn pessimistic and my glass was ALWAYS half empty. After yoga took hold of me, I realized that I was a prisoner in my own mind but I didn’t have to be. My practice freed me in a natural way whereas many others turn to antidepressants.

The study of asana is not about mastering posture. It’s about using posture to understand and transform yourself. ~B.K.S. Iyengar

If you’re interested in starting your own journey, attend classes or private sessions with an instructor. Many places are also offering free/discounted classes at the beginning of the year so look into those if money is a factor. Drop the excuses and go for it.

#Sidenote : The grip on this @liforme is AMAZEBALLS! My feet didn’t slide at all which allowed me to go much further than expected and sit comfortably in this while focusing on my breath.
