The first of President Obama’s Young African Leaders Initiative (YALI), to take place at the Regional Leadership Centre (RLC) ASCON-Lagos officially commenced on 19th September, 2016 with an opening ceremony.

In an opening address by the acting director of the Administrative Staff College of Nigeria, ASCON, Lagos, Mrs. C. U. Gayya, she welcomed the young African leaders to the YALI regional center and stressed the need for participants to maximize the opportunities provided during their five-week stay in Lagos.

“No matter how challenging you may find the programme, I have confidence that you will maximize the opportunities and make a success of it,” she noted.

The YALI Regional program is designed for young leaders across West Africa to shape the debate about their role in spurring innovation and economic prosperity, contributing to democratic governance, and building peace and security across the continent.
